I'm Nik. Hello! Thanks for your interest!
I've been registered with the HCPC since I qualified as an Occupational Therapist (OT) in 2008 from the University of Teesside but I have had a varied and colourful career! My experience ranges from apprentice electrician, through more than 10 years in mobile telecommunications in customer services and project management. I came full circle and returned to the public sector as a grants manager before I decided it was time for a change and applied to retrain in 2005.
My special clinical interest is in Long Term Condition (LTC) management and although I started off in Orthopaedics I have significant experience in the areas of Neuro, Pain Management, Rheumatology and Hand Therapy. I feel very strongly that we should treat people not conditions and that therapy does not need to happen in a medical setting. I am due to complete a Level 3 course in Life Coaching in the next six months which will help me work with people who need more of the coaching and less of the OT!
I am also a proud mum of two. I enjoy good food, good music and good people – all of which nurture the soul! My favourite quote is one I try to live by:
“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending”
C.S Lewis
So, if you’re looking for help to change your story get in touch, I’d love to work with you!
